Adoption documents we notarize

  • Consent and relinquishment forms
  • Adoption agreements and other papers your agency or attorney asks you to sign
  • Affidavits and sworn statements
  • Financial statements and employment verification letters for the home study
  • Medical letters and reference letters
  • International adoption dossier documents
  • Powers of attorney and travel consent letters

A notary confirms who signed and that they signed willingly. We cannot tell you which forms you need or fill them in for you. Your agency, attorney or the court decides that.

International adoption dossiers and apostilles

Countries that belong to the Hague Apostille Convention usually want each notarized document apostilled. For a document notarized in Oregon, the apostille comes from the Oregon Secretary of State. Pac Signing can notarize the whole dossier and handle the apostille step for you. Countries outside the Convention need authentication instead. See apostille services.

How a visit works

  1. Send us the list of documents from your agency or attorney, and tell us how many signers there are.
  2. Leave the documents unsigned until the notary arrives.
  3. Every signer needs a current government photo ID and must be there in person.
  4. The notary checks ID, watches each signature and completes the notarial certificates.
  5. For international dossiers, we can take the documents for apostille when the notarizations are done.

Fees

The notarial fee is $10 per notarial act, the most Oregon law allows. Mobile visits add a travel fee: $70 for the first 10 miles, plus $2 per mile after that. Ask for a quote for dossiers with many documents.

Frequently asked questions

Can you come to our home or the agency office?

Yes. A mobile notary comes to your home, office, the agency or a hospital, any hour, across the Portland metro and Willamette Valley.

Can both parents sign at one visit?

Yes. Every signer must be there in person with a current government photo ID. We can notarize all the documents for both of you at the same appointment.

Which adoption documents need to be notarized?

Your agency, attorney or the court decides which documents need a notary. Bring their list and we will notarize the signatures they ask for. A notary cannot give legal advice or choose forms for you.

Can you apostille my international adoption dossier?

Yes. We notarize the dossier documents and can arrange the apostille from the Oregon Secretary of State for countries in the Hague Apostille Convention. Countries outside the Convention need authentication instead; ask us and we will explain the steps.

How much does it cost?

The notarial fee is $10 per notarial act, the most Oregon law allows. Mobile visits add $70 for the first 10 miles, plus $2 per mile after that. Dossiers often have many signatures, so ask for a quote.
