Gresham is the largest city in east Multnomah County, with a little over 114,000 residents at the 2020 census. Our nearest office is across the Columbia at 201 NE Park Plaza, Suite 221, Vancouver, WA 98684, about 17 miles away and roughly 29 minutes without traffic. The notary who drives over carries an Oregon commission as well as a Washington one, so a Gresham signing is done under Oregon law.
Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center, at 24800 SE Stark St, is Gresham’s hospital and has a 24-hour emergency department. Families call us there when a relative has been admitted and a power of attorney or advance directive has not been signed yet. The patient has to understand the document and be able to tell the notary so; if they cannot hold a pen, Oregon lets them direct another person, not the notary, to sign for them.
Multnomah County’s East County Courthouse stands at SE 185th Avenue and Stark Street in Rockwood. We can notarize a sworn statement for you before you go in, at your home or at a spot close to the building.
Beyond those two, most Gresham visits are to houses, apartments and workplaces.
Gresham’s city-recognised neighborhood associations are Centennial, Central City, Gresham Butte, Gresham Pleasant Valley, Hogan Cedars, Hollybrook, Kelly Creek, North Central, North Gresham, Northeast, Northwest, Powell Valley, Rockwood, Southwest and Wilkes East. We travel to all of them.
Our Gresham travel area includes ZIP code 97030, the hospital’s ZIP.
Oregon caps the notarial fee at $10 per notarized signature (ORS 194.400). Our travel fee starts at $70 and is agreed with you before the notary travels. Example: one signature at an Oregon address near an office is $80.
Gresham is a longer drive from the office than that example assumes, so ask for your figure when you call. The travel fee is not set by state law, which is why we explain it and get your agreement first.
Three things make a visit for a sworn statement quick. Have the document complete but unsigned. Have your ID ready: a passport, a driver license or ID card from any state, a military ID or a tribal ID, current or expired no more than 3 years. And know how many signatures need notarizing, because the Oregon fee is counted per signature.
We cannot advise on what to file or how to word it. Court staff or a lawyer can.
Do you come to Rockwood and Centennial in the evening?
Yes. Mobile notaries work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and both neighborhoods are on the west side of Gresham, the side nearest our route in. Same-day visits are common.
My mother is at Legacy Mount Hood and her license expired last year. Is that a problem?
Not by itself. Oregon accepts the listed forms of ID if they expired no more than 3 years ago. If she has no acceptable ID at all, a credible witness may be able to identify her; ask us how that works before the visit.
