An FBI background check is a federal document, so only the U.S. Department of State in Washington, DC can apostille it. A state office cannot. This is the most common mistake people make: they send the FBI report to their Secretary of State and it comes back rejected.
| Document | Who issues the apostille |
|---|---|
| FBI background check | U.S. Department of State |
| Oregon State Police or local police check | Oregon Secretary of State |
| Oregon birth, marriage or court record | Oregon Secretary of State |
For state documents, see our Oregon apostille service.
